Thursday thinking

Yesterday I invited John Mize to speak to Rotary and quickly remembered why I enjoy him so much — he moves me. He has such an intensity in how he carries himself and how he approaches everything he does, it's catching. I hope I can have some of that intensity as I approach a growing goal list. I shall begin on goal one tomorrow ... securing a great photo. Not just a good one, but a great one.
• Last night's storms brought storms that effected a lot of areas just East of Kaufman. Here in town things weren't so bad, but I bet if you look around some of your friends and neighbors can use a hand this morning.
• Sometimes it is the smallest off-hand comment that can make your day. Someone made one of those yesterday and I'm still running on that positive mojo.
• After losing its backup goalie of choice to Toronto, Dallas had to make another move.
• KPD's Sgt. Black is warning folks about the heat. It's predicted to rise to 103 today, so be safe out there.
• Kaufman High School is saying goodbye to lockers. Here's why.
• In the Carribean there are oysters that can climb trees.
• As an Allstate customer, I'm not thrilled about this.
• A change for the Aug. 22-23 sales tax holiday this year will allow us to purchase pens, pencils, highlighters, notebooks, copy paper and just about all office supplies tax free. So get ready to stock up!
• The Kaufman Athletic Booster Club has restructured and planning big things for the future. I'm meeting with Chip Murrey Monday and looking forward to sharing all I learn in next week's edition of the Herald.
• The Tucker is a classic car.
